3 killed, 2 critical in tragic road mishap in Angul

At least three persons were killed while two others sustained multiple injuries after a speeding Hyva truck hit the auto-rickshaw they were traveling in near Khalagaon under Bantala police limits in Angul district late on Saturday night.

The incident occurred while all of them were on their way to Kulasingha in the auto-rickshaw at around 12:30 AM. While two of them died on the spot, another injured succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the local hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Pitambhar Padhan, Muna Padhan and Gundicha Padhan. The injured have been identified as Pitambhar’s wife Jambhu Padhan and his daughter. They are currently undergoing treatment at Bantala community health center (CHC).

According to sources, Pitambhar along with his family had gone to drop his elder daughter at her in-law’s house. The tragic road mishap occurred while the family was returning back to their village.

A relative said, “They were returning home when a speeding Hyva truck hit their auto-rickshaw. Two of them died on the spot while another person died during treatment. Two are still undergoing treatment.”
