At least three persons sustained injuries after a bus carrying over 40 passengers veered off the road at Ragadha under Betanati Police Station in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

The accident occurred along National Highway No.18 when the bus named Shri Jagannath was on its way to Baripada from Amarda.

As per reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to some reason and it veered off the road near Ragadha. Luckily, all the passengers had a close shave except three persons who sustained minor injuries. The injured passengers were immediately admitted to the nearby Betanati Hospital.

As per local people, the bus was not carrying a lot of speed due to which the vehicle didn’t turn turtle after the driver lost control. The bus only veered off the road. Local people rushed to the spot immediately following the incident and rescued the passengers.

However, as per the driver, he lost control of the vehicle due to some mechanical failure.

After receiving the information, Betanati Police reached the spot and started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
