Elaborate police arrangements have been made for the Tazia processions scheduled to be held in Bhadrak district for the occasion of Muharram on Saturday.

As per reports, 41 processions will be taken out in Bhadrak and the district administration has deployed 25 platoons of police force for maintaining the law and order situation during the procession and other arrangements.

Apart from this, police will also keep an eye on the procession with the help of drones and CCTV cameras.

“Six processions from Kacheri Bazar, seven processions will originate from Chandan Bazar and Shankarpur. Similarly, approximately 25 processions will originate from Purunabazar and Bankabazar area,” said Mohammed Moquim Khan, Secretary of Chauda Mahala Muslim Jamat Committee.

Asked about the security arrangements, Bhadrak SP Varun Guntupally said, “We have made adequate deployments for Muharram procession. We will ensure a peaceful Muharram celebration in Bhadrak town including Purunabazar, Dhamnagar, and Basudebpur.”

The police have urged people to refrain from spreading rumours on social media.

Earlier, Bhadrak Police had conducted a flag march in the district headquarters on Thursday ahead of the observance of Muharram in the town.

The flag march, which was conducted jointly by Bhadrak Police and OSAF personnel, began from Goshala Square in Bhadrak and covered areas including Puruna Bazar, Santhia, Mochi Chhak, Kacheri Chhak, and reached Goshala Chhak. Around 17 platoons of police force including 80 officers had conducted the flag march.
