2024 elections: Congress leader Suresh Routray’s elder son wishes to contest from remote area 

Whenever an election comes, it is common to find several greenhorns on the political battlefield. The coming 2024 general elections will be no different either. It is almost certain that senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray’s two sons-Siddharth Routray and Manmath Routray-are going to take baby steps into politics in 2024.  

In an exclusive interview with OTV, Siddharth, a well-known mountaineer, said that he will contest from a remote place in the state. 

“We have started preparations for 2024 general elections. This time, my younger brother will contest from Jatni constituency. I will contest for an MLA seat. But I am not going to reveal the name of the constituency from where I will contest. But it will be a remote place where development still remains a distant dream. However, my father will take the final call,” said Siddharth. 

“I have chosen such a place because then only we can show that how things can be done,” he added. 

When contacted, Congress leader Suresh Routray said, “I have already announced that my younger son Manmath Routray will contest from Jatni constituency in 2024. If an opportunity arrives, my elder son will contest. Or else, we will wait for 2029 elections. They will contest on Congress tickets. In case, they don’t get tickets, they will contest as independent candidates and come out with flying colours.”
