19-month-old Odisha toddler saves three lives by donating his heart, liver and other organs

“Thinking three lives are alive because of our son makes us immensely proud. We bear his loss thinking that he saved three lives,” said Pratyush’s parents who donated his vital organs to three other patients.

He was just 19 months old. However, his noble deed has given new lease of life to three people. The little boy from Debendrapur village in Balasore district was born with some acute illness. Despite every effort by his parents, he could only live for 19 months. 

However, his parents decided to make him immortal and came forward to donate his organs. His heart has given a new lease of life to a boy in Chennai, his liver has saved a boy in New Delhi and his organs have saved another person.

The wholesome gesture of Pratyush’s parents proves that humanity still exists in the world. 

“One doesn’t have to live 100 hundred years to do something great. One can do great things in just one or two years which people will remember forever. We tried all our best to save him, but he left us. So, we decided to donate his organs,” said an emotional Gouri Shankar Panigrahy, father of Pratyush. 

Similarly, Pratyush’s mother Sharmistha Panigrahy said, “As parents, our aim is to see our children reach greater heights and make us proud when they grow up. However, my son has done a lot at a tender age. Through this organ donation, I want to set an example for more people to come forward for organ donation so that we can make the society a better place.”

When contacted Balasore Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas appealed to people to come forward and contribute in organ donations so that more and more lives could be saved.
