As many as 15 people sustained critical injuries after a tractor in which they were travelling overturned at Fategarh in Nayagarh district on Sunday. 

The identities of the injured persons are yet to be ascertained. 

According to the sources, the passengers along with some children were going on a tractor to attend the consecration ceremony of a Ram temple situated atop the hill. While heading towards the temple, the driver lost the control of steering wheel allegedly due to hairpin bends and the tractor overturned leaving the people critically injured. 

Soon, the onlookers rushed to the spot, rescued the injured persons, and shifted them to Bhapur Community Health Centre (CHC). As the condition of some victims deteriorated, they were shifted to a Bhubaneswar-based Hospital for further treatment. 

It is to be noted that earlier today, a speeding truck ran over three bikers in front of a private Engineering College in Ranital, Bhadrak. While two of them were crushed to death on the spot, the third person breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The driver fled from the spot after the tragic incident, reports said.
