Massive tumour removed from youth’s abdomen

A massive tumour, weighing about 15 kg, was surgically removed from the abdomen of a 19-year-old youth by a team of doctors at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The patient has been identified as Sohail Khan.

As per reports, Sohail was suffering from fever for many days. The fever persisted despite taking medicines with consultation from doctors. Subsequently, he was admitted to the hospital.

Following a CT scan and MRI test, it was confirmed that Sohail has a tumour of one cubic foot in his abdomen. The massive tumour had covered many internal parts of the body.

Subsequently, the doctor team carried out a surgery and removed the massive tumour successfully. Sohail’s condition is reportedly stable now.

“When Sohail was down with fever for so many days, doctors advised me for some tests. After conducting the required tests, it was confirmed that he has a massive tumour in his abdomen. Then the surgery was performed,” said Sohail’s father Azizul Khan.

As per the doctors, such a huge tumour is rarely found inside a man’s body and it’s a rare surgery.

“Such a massive tumour in a man’s abdomen covering the upper cavity, lower cavity and both sides is rare. It was a challenging surgery for the entire team. We have removed the tumour successfully. It took six to seven hours to carry out the surgery and the patient is recovering well,” said a doctor from the surgery team.
