In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old boy went missing in the turbulent water of the Devi River after saving his sinking friend on Sunday.

The missing boy has been identified as Chandan Swain of Bhandisahi village under Naugaon police limits in Puri district. He has been missing after drowning in an attempt to save his friend Kanha Parida (12). 

As per sources, Kanha accidentally fell into the river after stepping on slippery stone packing at the side of the embankment.
 
Kanha accompanied by two of his friends Chandan and Chintu Mallick (17) was casually walking near the riverside when the incident occurred.

When Chandan went missing while trying to rescue Kanha, residents launched frantic search, but in vain.  The fire services department’s rescue team from Naugaon and Balikuda also arrived at the spot after being informed about the incident, and launched an intensive search for the missing boy but weren’t able to find him.

Chandan is the only son of Rohit Kumar Swain of the same village. He is a Class 10 student of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Vidyalaya located in Bhadisahi village.
