The district administration eventually launched an investigation into a rice scam that took place at the PEG RRC godown at Binika in Subarnapur district.

The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department has registered a case against the concerned agent named Bimali Bharati and the godown owner at Binika police station.

The said godown is located at Arigaon. It was alleged that massive misappropriation had taken place at the godown. Taking the incident seriously, the district administration formed a team and ordered for an investigation.

During physical verification, a shortage of 10,344 quintals of rice worth Rs 3,32,00,000  came to the fore.

It was then alleged that a contractor was involved. But the concerned contractor set the rice at the godown on fire in an attempt to show the fire mishap caused the shortage of rice. But he failed in his attempt.

When contacted, Subarnapur district Collector, Aboli Sunil Naravane said, “After coming to know about the misappropriation, we had formed a team. After physical verification, the team found a shortage of 10,000 quintals of rice. Subsequently, we intimated the same to the government. In return, we were directed to recover. Accordingly, we have taken steps. An FIR has been lodged against the godown owner. The police will take action as per law.”
