1 killed, 2 critical as car rams into roadside tree in Ganjam
A person was killed, while two others sustained critical injuries, after a car they were traveling in lost control and hit a roadside tree near Singipur Chhak under Badagada police limits in Ganjam late on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Behera from Berhampur, while the injured are Shankar Maharana and Rajesh Gouda.
According to sources, the accident took place late last night when the trio was returning to Berhampur from Buguda after attending a yajna. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a tree.
Upon receiving information, locals alerted the Badagada police, who, along with Fire Services personnel, reached the scene and rescued the injured passengers, sourced added.

While the driver of the ill-fated vehicle reportedly died on the spot, the two injured were rushed to Badagada hospital. Later, the duo was shifted to Berhampur-based MKCG Medical College & Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain on what circumstance the accident took place leading to one death.
