The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on three agencies for affixing ‘To-Let’ posters on the walls.

The civic body has also informed that FIRs have been lodged against the agencies and appealed to the city dwellers not to affix To-let posters on walls and poles of the city.

The BMC took to its official X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, “Team BMC imposed penalty of Rs 50,000(each) & FIR filed against these 3 agencies for affixing massive (To-let) posters across the city walls, poles, etc.” (SIC)

According to sources, some fraudsters were pasting the to-let posters and cheating the people. Besides, after letting the people have a place to live in, the fraudsters were extracting money from them. Pasting of such posters on the walls is also damaging the beauty of the city.

Taking cognizance of the situation, the BMC came up with this step to stop the practice of pasting to-let posters on walls and poles.

The agencies were unavailable for comment on the imposition of fines.
