‘Rasagola belongs to Odisha’, affirms Chitrangda Singh in trademark style

Everyone’s favourite teacher from ‘Desi Boyz’, the stunning Chitrangda Singh was in Bhubaneswar to grace the 1st edition of OTV Business Odisha Awards.

On the sidelines of the event that honoured and felicitated the entrepreneurial spirit of young, industrious, and zealous minds who have contributed to the economic growth of Odisha, the ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ actress took some time off to speak her heart out.

During her candid interview, the gorgeous beauty had a close-up with the sweet poser - ‘Rasagola belongs to Odisha or West Bengal?” 

In her trademark style, the gorgeous beauty declared that ‘Rasagola indeed belongs to Odisha’ though her approval of sweetmeat came in the setting of a lighter mood.

Speaking in Odia, the actress said, “Mo pasandara mitha Rasagola” and in a lighter vein added, ‘Rasagola Odisha ra’. The statement from the versatile actress has pleased Odias who thanked her for making the endorsement.

This apart, Chitrangda also opened up on Nepotism, her entry into Bollywood, and her experience of facing rejections due to her skin complexion.

The actress revealed how she had to face rejection in the initial days of her career due to her dark skin complexion. However, she caught the attention of acclaimed lyricist Gulzar and appeared in his music video ‘Sunset Point’ and since then there has been no looking back for Chitrangda.

After seeing her in the music video, director Sudhir Mishra signed her for the debut film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ and the role got her wide acclaim and won her the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Debut.

She then went on to appear in successful films including Yeh Saali Zindagi, Desi Boyz, I, Me Aur Main, Bob Biswas, Baazaar, and most recently mystery-thriller Gaslight.

Speaking about nepotism, the actress said, “Definitely it is true that nepotism helps you to an extent to get roles as you know people from the film industry. But beyond that, an actor/actress should have talent and the audience would certainly love his/her work.”

In another interesting revelation, Chitrangda Singh also revealed how she was the inspiration behind Yo Yo Honey Singh’s popular songs ‘Brown Rang’ and ‘Blue Eyes’.

Before bidding adieu, the stunning diva said ‘Allah Maaf Kare’ because she hasn’t done enough work and wants to do more work and continue to entertain her fans.
