In a bid to provide hassle-free public transport, the Odisha government has decided to extend the ‘Mo Bus’ services to all villages across the State under Laxmi Scheme, informed Transport Department Secretary, Usha Padhee on Tuesday.

According to sources, the ‘Mo Bus’ operated by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will run between blocks and panchayats.

In the first phase, the services will be made available in six districts– Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Gajapati. Later, the services will be extended to other regions, Padhee informed.

“The Laxmi Scheme will be a game changer. The ‘Mo Bus’ will cover all blocks and gram panchayats. The scheme aims to provide assured and affordable services," Padhee said.

Earlier on May 18, the Odisha government had extended the ‘Mo Bus’ service in three more districts-Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Ganjam in Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Brajarajnagar-Belpahar and Berhampur-Gopalpur-Chhatrapur-Hinjilicut-Digapahandi clusters.
At present, Mo Bus service is available in several urban clusters.
