Tension prevailed in the Garage Chhak area under Bhubaneswar’s Lingaraj police limits after a ‘Mo Bus’ reportedly hit an auto-rickshaw on Sunday evening injuring at least three passengers.

As per reports, the State Government-sponsored Mo Bus was en route to Nuagaon from Master Canteen when the driver lost balance and hit an auto-rickshaw moving ahead of it.

Following the collision, the auto-rickshaw turned turtle on the road at least three times.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

However, following the accident, infuriated locals vented their anger at the alleged reckless driving by ‘Mo Bus’ drivers and blocked the Bhubaneswar-Puri road near Garage Chhak. The locals demanded strict action against the driver and threatened to not allow plying of ‘Mo Bus’ on that road.

The police reached the spot and pacified the angry locals following which they removed the blockade at midnight.

It is pertinent to mention here that several ‘Mo Bus’ were involved in accidents in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recently. Locals of the Twin Cities alleged that the drivers of the ‘Mo Bus’ drive carelessly because of which accidents are occurring.

Recently, tension gripped Sikharchandi Vihar in Bhubaneswar after a 'Mo Bus' hit a man while he was crossing the road on February 4 evening. Following the incident, local people rushed to the spot and vented their ire on the bus.

Similarly, in another instance, infuriated locals detained a Mo Bus at Barang in Cuttack after it hit a car on January 16.

The bus bearing registration number OD 33V 3513 was en route to Bhubaneswar from Cuttack when it hit a car from the rear near Barang. While the car was partially damaged in the mishap, the locals detained the bus alleging irresponsible driving by the driver.
