An important meeting was held in Puri on Thursday about giving an invitation to Lord Jagannath at Srimandir first for the dedication of the Srimandir Parikrama Project to the devotees.

As per reports, the much-awaited Srimandir Parikrama Project will be dedicated to people on January 17.

In the meeting, a discussion was held about uniting all the places related to the Srimandir Heritage Corridor project. The history, tradition and culture of those places were also discussed.

Chief Administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ranjan Kumar Das, members of the temple administration committee, Mahantas (chiefs) of all the mutts and researchers of Jagannath culture took part in the meeting.

As per reports, the invitation will be sent to the Holy Trinity at Srimandir in a grand procession following all the traditional rituals on Thursday. Subsequently, invitations will be sent to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Defence Minister and all the dignitaries of India and Odisha in a phased manner.

“Before the start of any auspicious and important work, Odia people seek blessings from Lord Jagannath by sending Him an invitation first. Following that tradition, the Puri district administration will send an invitation to Lord Jagannath before the dedication of the Srimandir Parikrama Project to the devotees. The invitation will be sent in a grand procession as per the traditional ritual,” said senior servitor Damodara Mahasuara.

“After the invitation to Lord Jagannath, we will send invitations to Shankaracharyas of all the four dhams and priests of 12 Jyotirlingas,” he added.

“As per the tradition, Lord Jagannath will be invited first for the dedication of the Srimandir Parikrama Project to the people. Let Lord Jagannath take care of his work himself,” said another senior servitor.
