The Bhubaneswar MP has also written to the Chief Engineer, Department of Irrigation. In the letter, Sarangi wrote that Deras MIP irrigation canal has been blocked. Out of the 1850 mts of the canal, more than 1707 mts have been cleared. However, more than 100 mts is yet to be cleared. Besides, there is some technical problem in Deras MIP distribution system due to which water flow in the cleared canal is not adequate, the letter read.

“In the presence of farmers, it was decided that digging of a small portion of canal would be done on September 26, 2023. Besides the technical problem resolution in Deras MIP will be done by September 30,”wrote Sarangi while demanding to resolve the two issues in view of the interest of the poor farmers.
