Rourkela: The Odisha government on Thursday submitted the details of expenditure incurred during construction of the Gurupriya bridge to the Centre. Other important information related to the project were also submitted to the Centre by the State Works Department.

The Union Home Ministry had sought a reply from the Odisha government regarding the bridge on the basis of a question asked in the Lok Sabha on July 24.

Meanwhile, a BJP delegation led by the State party unit president Basant Panda today met Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and sought CBI probe into the project.

The Congress too demanded a CBI probe alleging that around Rs 74 crore were paid fraudulently in excess to the contractor engaged for the Gurupriya bridge project.

“The excess payment had been pointed out by the Principal Accountant General," Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Niranjan Patnaik had said adding that only CBI probe unearth the facts.

The state government has misused public money to benefit the contractor, Patnaik had alleged.
