International Day of Yoga

In a significant lead-up to the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), the Ministry of Ayush is organizing a global summit titled ‘Yoga Connect’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today. This unique event, designed in a hybrid format, aims to unite yoga masters, international wellness experts, public health authorities, industry leaders, and scholars from around the world.

The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), India's premier body for yoga research, is spearheading the organization of the summit.

With over 1,000 attendees expected in person and many more joining virtually from global yoga and wellness institutions, the summit promises to be a vibrant convergence of ideas and experiences. Participants from countries like Bahrain, the USA, the UK, and South Korea will bring global perspectives on yoga, healthcare, and research.

A key moment of the event will be the unveiling of the ‘Yoga Prabhava’ report, a comprehensive nationwide study assessing the impact of IDY over the last ten years. The findings are expected to offer valuable guidance for researchers, academicians, and public health planners.

Three additional major publications will also be released:

Decadal Impact of Yoga (E-book)
Scientometric Review of Yoga Research
Bhartiya Vriksha Vaibhavam – a visual guide on India’s native trees and their cultural and ecological value

The summit agenda includes a series of thought-provoking sessions, exploring themes such as:

The role of yoga in preventing non-communicable diseases
Impact assessment of the Common Yoga Protocol
Innovations in yoga technology
Women’s health and yoga across life stages
Commercial and industrial prospects of yoga
Yoga as a universal wellness practice

Renowned yoga leaders like Swami Baba Ramdevji, Acharya Balakrishnaji, Dr. HR Nagendra, His Holiness Bikkhu Sanghasena, and Sri Bharath Bhushan will grace the summit with their presence and insights.

Yoga Connect marks a decade of global celebration since the UN proclaimed June 21 as International Day of Yoga in 2014. As yoga continues to be embraced globally—also recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity—India remains at the forefront, spreading the timeless message of well-being, inner harmony, and collective peace.
