Woman kills 6-month-old son over financial issues after both test positive for HIV
In a deeply disturbing incident, a 43-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her six-month-old son by smothering him with a pillow. The shocking revelation surfaced after a workplace altercation brought her into police custody.
The woman, employed at a garment unit in Govandi, Mumbai, reportedly got into a heated scuffle with a colleague on Thursday evening. During the altercation, she allegedly pulled out a knife, prompting other employees to alert the police. A team arrived promptly and intervened.
While being questioned about the scuffle, the woman made a chilling confession. She told police that she had killed her infant son due to her inability to raise him amid severe financial distress. She also revealed that both she and the child had recently tested positive for HIV, which intensified her mental and emotional turmoil.
According to officials, the woman admitted to smothering the baby with a pillow while he lay in a cradle at their residence. Acting on the confession, police visited her home, where they found the child unresponsive. The baby was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
