Pahalgam terrorist attack: What’s Pak-backed terrorists’ intention behind leaving women, children

India has faced its worst terrorist attack on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. In Kashmir's Pahalgam, at least 27 innocent lives were lost and 15 others were injured in an attack backed by Pakistan. Terrorists opened fire at point-blank range, targeting innocent tourists. 

In a recent podcast with ANI, former Commander of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey (Retd) has revealed about the possibilities on how did the Pakistan-backed terrorists plan the massacre.

Local Support Mechanism

According to Pandey, the local support mechanism of the terrorist group might have provided them key information about the timing and location.

"One layer of the attack is Asim Munir and his ilk who are the controllers. Another spectrum to it is the local support mechanism which exists. Somebody has given the intelligence, timing, numbers, locations where the security forces will take nothing less that 20-30 minute to respond. The information about the area of get away, the terrain layout, bringing them inside, carrying out the operation and there after ensuring that they melt inside have been provided by the foot front operators of these elements," said Pandey.

Money, Drug & Radical Ideology

"I am sure that somebody on the payroll has given all these details including the type of people who are staying there. Possibility of a serving Naval officer, possibility of some other operators celebrating their holidays there, all these things have come with some degree of information to them. The third layer is there. It has got busted to some extent. But if you think, the bias of a political mind can be moved so easily in just about four year. This has been there for hundred years. However, the Indian mind often thinks that everything will change within four years. How will it go? You have been brought upon in educational system of radical mindset. It can be separatist, ideological or religious based. Then there is another element to it and that is money and drugs, People can sell their souls anywhere in the world for some degree of money, drug or radical ideology and let women, children and unarmed people get killed," he further said.

"The Pakistan backed terrorists have picked up stuff from what happens in Hamas and Gaza. Whatever happens like stone pelting, explosion of bombs or some sort of revolution in West Asia comes to us after a year or two. This is a transition they learn and apply in our territory," he added.

Why Did Terrorists Leave Women & Children?

Pandey further said that the terrorists left the women and children intentionally so that the barbaric massacre will haunt them for the rest of their lives and they will spread the act of terror among people.
