The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced BHIM Vega, a new in-app payment solution that makes online transactions easier for businesses and customers.
In simple terms, BHIM Vega is aimed at leading to smoother transactions, happier customers, and higher sales for merchants.
Many online merchants face challenges like customers abandoning payments due to complicated processes, security concerns, or the need to switch between different apps. BHIM Vega aims to fix these issues by letting users complete payments directly within a merchant's app without interruptions.
While UPI is widely used in India, many merchants struggle with problems like customers dropping out of payments when redirected to third-party apps.
Security and privacy concerns also make digital transactions complicated. BHIM Vega solves these issues by integrating UPI directly into merchants' apps, making payments quicker, easier, and safer.
All of this ensures fewer failed transactions and a better shopping experience for customers, helping businesses grow.

BHIM Vega works by embedding UPI payment capabilities directly into merchants' apps. This means customers can complete payments without leaving the app. It speeds up transactions, reduces drop-offs, and helps businesses maintain a seamless shopping experience.
Currently, the BHIM app has over 226 million Android downloads and 8.8 million iOS downloads, showing its popularity. With BHIM Vega, more merchants are expected to adopt in-app payment solutions, further boosting digital transactions in India.
Along with BHIM Vega, NPCI has introduced BHIM Vishwas, a concept that allows banks to integrate BHIM’s payment system into their own mobile banking apps.
The system would let banks focus on other services while using BHIM’s technology for payments. Banks like Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Karnataka Bank, and Union Bank are already part of this initiative, which is still under development.
