New Delhi: Bureaucrat-turned-politician Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday took charge of the IT, electronics and communication ministry. As soon as he assumed office as the Union Minister for Railways, Communication, Electronics & IT, he did not waste any time to make it crystal clear how he wants things to pan out in the ongoing Twitter-Centre face off.
"Everyone has to follow law of the country," Vaishnaw said during his first visit to the party headquarters after being made cabinet minister in the Modi government.
When questioned about Twitter not complying to the new IT law, the Minister hinted that everyone has to follow new guidelines.
I thank the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the great opportunity he has given me to serve the nation. Telecommunications, IT and Railways. There are lots of synergies in the three and I will be working to ensure that his vision is implemented," Vaishnaw told reporters after taking the charge.
This is the first term of Vaishnaw as a Member of Parliament and he will be in charge of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Railways as a Cabinet Minister.
