Three newly-appointed judges of the Orissa High Court were administered the oath of office by Chief Justice S Muralidhar on Tuesday. The new judges include, Justices Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo, Radha Krishna Pattanaik and Sashikanta Mishra.

The swearing-in ceremony was held in the New Conference Hall at High Court premises in Cuttack. Judges, court officials and lawyers attended the swearing-in ceremony. 

Advocate Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo and Judicial Officers Radha Krishna Pattanaik and Sashikanta Mishra had been elevated as judges of the Orissa High Court in the fresh set of appointments approved by the Supreme Court Collegium in a meeting held on September 29.

Afterwards, the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in consultation with Chief Justice of India N V Ramana, appointed them and as Judges of the Orissa High Court.

With these appointments, the strength of judges in the Orissa High Court now stands at 17, against a sanctioned strength of 27.

Recently, on October 8, Justice Jaswant Singh and Justice Arindam Sinha were sworn-in as Judges of the Orissa High Court.

Even after the recent appointment of the five judges, the High Court still has 10 more vacancies.
