RRBs to recruit over 50,000 candidates in 2025-26, confirms Railway Ministry

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

The Railway Ministry announces over 50,000 appointments by RRBs in 2025-26, with 9,000 already hired. CBTs for 1.86 crore candidates cover 55,197 vacancies, emphasizing accessibility and fairness.

RRB Recruitment

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are set to offer over 50,000 appointments in the financial year 2025–26, the Ministry of Railways announced on Wednesday.

Over 9,000 candidates have already received appointment letters in the first quarter of the current financial year.

Large-Scale Recruitment Underway

Since November 2024, the RRBs have conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for more than 1.86 crore candidates across seven different notifications, covering a total of 55,197 vacancies.

The Ministry said this large-scale effort is aimed at enabling more than 50,000 appointments within this financial year.

Improved Accessibility for Examinees

Conducting CBTs on this scale requires extensive planning and coordination. In a move to ease access, the RRBs have taken the initiative to allot exam centres closer to candidates’ places of residence.

Special preference has been extended to female candidates and those belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category.

This change has necessitated the addition of more exam centres and human resources to ensure fairness and transparency in the process.

Future Appointments and Notifications

According to the annual recruitment calendar published by the RRBs, twelve notifications have already been issued since 2024, covering 1,08,324 vacancies.

The Ministry further stated that another 50,000 appointments are expected in the upcoming financial year 2026–27.

Measures to Ensure Fairness

To enhance the integrity of the recruitment process, E-KYC based Aadhaar authentication was used for the first time at such a scale, successfully verifying the identity of over 95% of candidates.

Additionally, jammers have been deployed at 100% of the RRB exam centres to eliminate the possibility of cheating through electronic devices.
