The E-ticket booking portal of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is temporarily down due to technical problems, informed the IRCTC on Thursday.

Taking to X, IRCTC said that their technical team is working to resolve the issue and that the portal will be made available for booking soon.

While some suspect it to be a server crash due to a sudden high volume of bookings, some others feared it to be a hack by foreign entities. Notably, some people have complained to have been facing IRCTC server issues since 10am today while booking Tatkal tickets.

Several people were seen posting angry messages on X. Many are also pointing out that these B2C websites are not working for ‘Tatkal’ bookings. Several users are thronging social media platforms to complain about ‘failed transactions’.

However, the IRCTC did not share any more details about the snag.

It is pertinent to mention here that the IRCTC had faced a similar outage on July 25 this year.

In a related development, there are reports that IRCTC is working on a voice-based booking feature, which will be launched on the app too. According to a TOI report, this voice feature would help in booking train tickets without any hiccups.
