Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the people of India on the occasion of the country's 77th Independence Day.

Earlier, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The PM then proceeded to the Red Fort and started addressing the nation after unfurling the national flag.

"Best wishes on Independence Day. We pay homage to our great freedom fighters and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling their vision. Jai Hind!," Modi wrote on X.

 

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with other ministers arrived at the Red Fort to attend Independence Day celebrations.

Taking to X, Shah wrote, “Happy Independence Day to all. I bow down to all the freedom fighters who contributed to the freedom of the country. This day also reminds us of our duties towards building the golden India dreamt of by the immortal souls who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Come, let us take a pledge to contribute our best in the unity and prosperity of the nation in the golden age of independence (Azaadi Ka Amrit Kaal).”

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also extended his wishes and wrote, “Greetings to all on Independence Day. Homage to our great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom. Let us pledge to make a prosperous India.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President, Baijayant Panda too wished the people on the occasion. "Wishing a very happy Independence Day to everyone from the Red Fort," he wrote on X.
