Pakistan violates ceasefire hours after peace deal announced

Mere hours after Pakistan announced its commitment to ending hostilities with India, fresh ceasefire violations across multiple sectors in Jammu and Kashmir have been reported. Both artillery shelling and small arms fire were reported. Following the development concern has been raised over the sincerity of Pakistan’s ceasefire pledge.

Apart from artillery firing along the LoC, Pakistan has also launched a fresh drone attack in several cities in Jammu and Kashmir, including in Jammu and Akhnoor.

Earlier today, in a major de-escalation of recent hostilities, India and Pakistan agreed to a full ceasefire after days of heightened cross-border military activity.

The Pakistan Army resorted to artillery shelling along the International Border in the Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura sectors. Ceasefire violations were also reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Palanwalla sector of Jammu.

A drone was reportedly shot down and suspicious Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) were spotted. A blackout has been reportedly enforced in both Baramulla and Srinagar.
In response to the development, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdulla tweeted," What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!."
