Seema Haider with her Indian husband
In the wake of heightened tensions following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir — which tragically claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists — the Indian government has reportedly taken a strict stance on Pakistani nationals residing in the country.
Among those affected is Seema Haider, a Pakistani woman who made headlines in 2023 after crossing the border illegally to be with her Indian partner, whom she later married.
According to unconfirmed reports circulating in the media, Seema has been given a three-day ultimatum to leave Indian soil. Authorities have allegedly instructed all Pakistani nationals currently staying in India to vacate the country within 72 hours.

Failure to comply could result in a fine of Rs 3 lakh or imprisonment of up to three years under the Foreigners Act.
While these directives seem to be part of a larger security crackdown following the brutal Pahalgam attack, there has been no official statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs or other government agencies confirming Seema Haider's deportation order.
Seema’s case drew national attention due to the cross-border love story and legal complications that followed. She had entered India illegally via Nepal with her children to be with her Indian husband, sparking political, legal, and public debates.
As of now, Seema remains in India, and the lack of official confirmation leaves room for speculation. Legal experts suggest that her deportation, if enforced, could set a precedent for similar cases, especially as the country grapples with balancing national security with individual human rights.
