Pahalgam terrorist attack: Kerala family narrowly escapes death due to salty mutton lunch!

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

A Kerala family narrowly escaped the Pahalgam attack in Jammu, thanks to a delayed salty rogan josh. Lavanya from Kochi recounts how their unplanned delay saved them.

Pahalgam Valley

A family from Kerala narrowly escaped the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, all thanks to an unexpected lunch delay. A salty dish of 'rogan josh' ultimately disrupted their schedule, saving them from being at the scene during the terrorist attack.

Realisation and Relief

Lavanya from Kochi recounted her family’s unplanned decision that day. On their way to Pahalgam, they noticed horses galloping away in urgency, indicating trouble ahead.

“We were puzzled by cars speeding away from Pahalgam,” Lavanya said, adding that heeding these indications, they turned back.

Calls from anxious friends and family poured in once the news broke. “Only after we saw the news, did we comprehend just how close we came to disaster,” Lavanya explained.

The Meal that Made All the Difference

Their fate turned with Lavanya's husband's insistence on stopping for lunch after days of missed meals. “That day, my husband's desire for a proper lunch saved us. The rogan josh was too salty, and the restaurant staff offered to recook it, delaying us by about 90 minutes.

“We said we would get late, but they were adamant about serving another one. I’m glad they were. That extra time spent making the dish again, maybe it saved our lives," she said.

Similar Fortunes

Other visitors shared tales of narrowly escaping danger that day. A group of 28 tourists from Maharashtra cited a delay due to unavailable horses, while a couple from Jaipur stayed away from the violence by indulging in snacks nearby.
