The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken two persons from Bhubaneswar into their custody in connection with the Birbhum violence case in West Bengal.

Two teams of NIA conducted raids in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar of Cuttack. Later, the duo was picked up from the capital city. 

As per sources, the pair was questioned by the NIA in the custody. After the initial rounds of questioning, they were reportedly taken to Delhi. 

The agency has neither disclosed the identity of the two persons nor shared any details about their involvement in the violence that had rocked West Bengal last month. 

Notably, Bhadu Sheikh, a Trinamool Congress leader and deputy president of Rampurhat village, was killed on March 21 by bike-borne assailants, after which a mob allegedly set several houses on fire. 

Next day, the police recovered the charred bodies of at least eight people, including children and women from a gutted house.

In the latest development,  a woman, who had suffered burn injuries in violence, died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment, taking the death toll in the vigilance to 10.
