India will have an important role to play in the G20 Summit, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President Baijayant Panda on Tuesday after the party's national executive meeting in Delhi.

Terming the G20 Presidency in India as historical, Panda said, “As our Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said, the image of India in the entire world has changed altogether in the last nine years. There was a time when other countries had to provide help to India during any crisis. But, in the last three years, it has been proved that we can face big challenges like the pandemic and also help others.”

“G20 is such a grouping which has a significant role in taking vital decisions and in shaping the narrative. Delegates from not only 20 countries but also from nine other countries will come to India all throughout the year. So we will have an opportunity to showcase our history, rich traditions and, most importantly, the new India and how progress is happening,” Panda added.

While urging the people of the entire nation to join in the ‘New India Mission’, he said that the BJP’s prime objective is to keep the entire society united.

The G20 presidency was assumed from Indonesia on December 1, 2022.  India will host more than 200 meetings across over 50 cities. The Summit’s theme is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
