Mumbai Monorail train stuck between two stations due to power failure

A Mumbai Monorail train came to a sudden halt on Tuesday evening between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations, leaving passengers stranded mid-air as heavy rains lashed the city. The incident took place on the elevated corridor, with the train stuck for nearly an hour before rescue operations began, officials confirmed.

Cause: Power Supply Glitch

According to a release issued by Mumbai Monorail authorities, the disruption was caused by a “minor power supply issue”. The technical snag left the coaches immobile, forcing authorities to step in with an urgent evacuation plan.

Fire Brigade Leads Rescue

The Mumbai Fire Brigade deployed three snorkel vehicles to the site. Officials said passengers would be evacuated by cutting the window glass of the monorail compartments. Crane-mounted platforms were also brought in to assist in the safe extraction of stranded commuters.

Rains Compound the Crisis

The rescue effort was complicated by incessant rainfall, which has battered Mumbai for the last two days, disrupting traffic, flooding low-lying areas, and throwing normal life out of gear. Visuals from the spot showed teams working under challenging conditions as commuters waited anxiously inside the stranded train.

Authorities Respond

Officials assured that all passengers would be rescued safely and measures were being taken to restore services. The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerabilities of Mumbai’s transport infrastructure during heavy monsoon spells.
