A kanwariya jumped into a canal to save the toddler
An 18-month-old baby girl, who was allegedly thrown into a canal by her father, was rescued by a ‘kanwariya’ at Jyotisar area in Haryana.
The father of the baby girl has been identified as Balkar Singh, who is a resident of Pehowa area.
Balkar along with his brother Kuldeep Singh have been arrested for committing the heinous act.
As per reports, the ‘kanwariya’ noticed Balkar dumping the toddler in the Saraswati feeder of Narwana Branch canal and fleeing on a motorcycle.
Immediately, he jumped into the canal and saved the child. Then the pilgrim handed over the baby to the in-charge of a ‘kanwariya centre’ at Raogarh village after which she was admitted to a nearby hospital. The baby is currently undergoing treatment.
As per police sources, Balkar has two daughters from his second wife and he wanted to throw away both of them. As per the plan, he managed to throw his younger daughter into the canal. However, he failed to throw his elder daughter as she started crying and he ran away from the spot.
After allegedly throwing his younger daughter in the canal, Balkar made a phone call to his wife to inform her what he had done. He also allegedly threatened to kill her if she tells the truth to anyone.
However, his wife informed her father-in-law and other relatives about the incident and they approached the police, resulting in the arrest of the two accused. They are currently being quizzed by the police about the incident.
