In a major setback for the Uddhav Thackeray government, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly stating that 'we are not staying tomorrow's floor test'.

The SC also issued notice on Shiv Sena Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu's plea and said that tomorrow's floor test will be subject to the outcome of the present petition. The apex court will hear his plea on July 11th.

However, soon after the SC's direction, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced his resignation from the CM post. “I am resigning as the Chief Minister. I am also resigning from Maharashtra council. I have no interest in all this. I am now back with you people," he said.

He further said, "Come and talk face to face, I had so much faith and trust in you. I have always respected your views, but you should come before me and speak. No point in holding grudges."
