Paralakhemundi: An inmate of a quarantine centre at Luhagudi under Gajapati district has gone missing, creating panic in the area.A complaint has also been registered in this connection at the Mohana police station.

As per reports, the missing inmate identified as Narendra Bisoi belonged to Ghasapada village under Damadua Gram Panchayat in the district. He was quarantined at Luhagudi after his return from Andhra Pradesh on May 9, 2021.

However, Bisoi suddenly became untraceable on May 11 (Tuesday). Though the exact reason behind his reported escape is yet to be ascertained, the other inmates of the centre and the locals have demanded to trace him out immediately in order to check a possible spread of COVID-19.

Speaking to the media, Lokanath Behera, the BDO who was on the spot to inquire about the incident said, “The incident came to light while distributing food packets among the inmates. When one packet left unclaimed, we found out that one man was missing from the Centre.”

“We will trace him out soon and ensure that no such incident happens in the future,” Behera assured.

It is worthwhile to mention here that recently the inmates of the same quarantine centre forcefully opened the gate of the centre protesting substandard food that was allegedly being provided by the local administration.
