 Ahead of the Ganapati festival, the Indian Railways has now geared up to ensure that the passengers do not face problems in reaching their respective destinations.

As part of its mega plan, the Railways has decided to run a whopping 261 Ganapati special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers during the festive season on various routes within the country.

As per an official notification, these special trains have already started services and shall run till September 20, 2021. Out of the total 261 Ganapati special trains, the Central Railways will operate 201 trains, 42 trains by Western Railway while the Konkan Rail Corporation Limited (KRCL) will run 18 Ganapati special trains.

Apart from this, sleeper class coaches are augmented in various trains originating from Mumbai to clear the rush. Senior officials said that the Ganapati special trains are fully reserved trains with special fare.

It is worth mentioning that only passengers having confirmed tickets will be permitted to board these special trains.

Passengers are requested to adhere to all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 during boarding, travelling and at the destination, a PIB release read. Recently, the Railways had introduced ‘AC Three Tier Economy Class’ coaches.

In the first phase, the coach has been attached to Train No.02403 Prayagraj- Jaipur Express. The New AC Economy coach has 83 berths as compared to 72 berths in traditional 3AC Coaches and the Railways claimed that the fare structure for this coach is nearly 8 per cent less than the existing 3AC coach.
