Indian Railways' Special Package: IRCTC Launches Special Train For Pitru Paksha

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) of the Indian Railways has announced the launch of ‘Pilgrim Special Tourist Trains’ during Pitru Paksha, a 16-day period in the month of Ashwin when people pay their respects to their deceased elders by offering them Tarpan and Shradha.

‘Pilgrimage Special Tourist Train’ is one of the most affordable all inclusive tour package, covering all the important tourist places in the country. The booking of Pilgrimage Special Tourist Trains is available online at the official website of IRCTC- www.irctctourism.com. The booking can also be done through the IRCTC’s Tourist Facilitation Center, Zonal Offices and Regional Offices, said the IRCTC.

“We have launched a new train named ‘Pilgrim Special Tourist Train’ and package is called ‘Mahalaya Pind Daan Package’. This will be the first time after the second wave of Covid-19 that such facility will be provided to the passengers by the railways. The train will start from Secunderabad and run via Bhubaneswar,’ informed Kranti Savarkar, Manager of IRCTC’s East Zone at Bhubaneswar.

There will be five sleeper coaches and five AC three tier coaches, added Savarkar.

Mahalaya Pind Daan Tarpan Package

Destination covered: Varanasi - Prayagraj – Gaya

Boarding & De-boarding Points: Secunderabad, Kazipet, Khammam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Tuni, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack,  Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak,  Balasore, Hijli, Tatanagar and Bokaro Steel City.

Cancellation Policy

For cancellation of your ticket, passenger has log into his/her account, select the Tour Confirmation Number (TCN) of the ticket s/he wishes to cancel and cancel the ticket from your booked history online. Cancellation of online ticket is possible only in the website www.irctctourism.com, and is not possible through PRS Counters. If the user wishes to cancel his ticket, cancellation rules for the tour package will be as under:

• Up to 15 days (excluding departure date): Rs 250 per passenger
• Up to 8-14 days (excluding departure date): 25 % of the package cost
• Up to 4-7 days (excluding departure date): 50 % of the package cost
• Less than 4 days: 100 % of the package cost

Points To Remember

• Passengers have to board and de-board the train at nominated stations as per the final Railway order and local transportation expenses to be borne by tourists on their own.
• The package tour decided by the IRCTC which will include Sleeper Class/Third A/c Train Tickets, Pure Vegetarian Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, Hotel/Dormitory/Hall accommodation in respective categories and Bus for local sightseeing only. Cost value package.
• Passengers before boarding the train should ensure the proper Check up of their body/ health from their Doctor in order to be fit for travelling, IRCTC will not be responsible for any mishap due to unfit condition/ health problem such as restlessness/ anxiety/ Unusual breathing problem of Asthmatic clients/ any other physical problems and Natural Death of the passengers.
• Passengers should adhere to the time announced by the tour representatives. Failing which you will have to come to the next destination on your own expenses.
• Please carry ID card at all items (like Driving License, Voter ID card, Ration Card, Pan Card) as proof of Identity for cross verification by Railway Authorities and the same has to be borne by the tourist.
