In a comprehensive press briefing last evening (May 11), senior officials from India's Army, Navy, and Air Force addressed the nation regarding recent escalations with Pakistan.
The briefing, led by Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, and Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, detailed the objectives and outcomes of Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 Indian lives.
Lt. Gen. Ghai emphasised that the operation targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites, resulting in the elimination of over 100 militants, including high-value targets such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed. He clarified that the operation was not aimed at inflicting casualties but at neutralising terror threats.
Air Marshal Bharti highlighted that Pakistan's subsequent drone incursions on May 8 and 9 were met with calibrated responses, including strikes on Pakistani airbases and command centres. Vice Admiral Pramod confirmed the Navy's readiness, stating that naval forces remained deployed in the Arabian Sea, prepared to respond decisively to any threats.
Despite Pakistan's request for a ceasefire on May 10, violations persisted, prompting India to issue a stern warning through a hotline message, asserting its intent to respond "fiercely and punitively" to any further infractions. Besides, Pakistan has persisted in spreading rampant fake news.
Pakistan's Fabricated Claims and India's Rebuttals
Amidst the conflict, Pakistan disseminated several false claims to mislead both domestic and international audiences. India's armed forces systematically debunked these assertions, presenting evidence to counter each fabrication.
Claim: Destruction of India's S-400 System
Pakistan alleged that its JF-17 jets destroyed India's S-400 air defence system. India refuted this, confirming that the system remains intact and operational.
Claim: Damage to BrahMos Missile Storage
Pakistan claimed to have destroyed a BrahMos missile storage site in Beas. India presented dated photographs demonstrating that the facility was unharmed.

Claim: Capture of an Indian Pilot
Pakistani officials and social media channels circulated images and posts claiming they had captured an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot after shooting down an Indian aircraft during the recent escalation.
The Indian Armed Forces categorically denied the claim, confirming that no Indian pilot was missing or captured during the operations. The images circulated were either old visuals from the 2019 Balakot incident, specifically of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, or completely doctored.
In the May 7 press briefing, Indian officials stated that all personnel involved in Operation Sindoor returned safely. This false claim was identified as yet another attempt by Pakistan to revive outdated narratives and create confusion during a period of high tension.
Claim: Airfields Damaged in Multiple Cities
Pakistan asserted that Indian airfields in Jammu, Pathankot, Bathinda, Naliya, and Bhuj were hit. India's armed forces provided evidence showing these airfields were fully functional.
Claim: Attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara
Pakistan alleged that an Indian drone targeted the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara. India dismissed this as a blatant lie, reaffirming its commitment to protecting all religious places.

Claim: Damage to Ammunition Dumps
Pakistan claimed to have damaged Indian ammunition dumps in Chandigarh and Beas. India provided visual evidence confirming these facilities were untouched.
Claim: Downing of Indian Aircraft
Pakistan asserted it shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets. India confirmed all its aircraft and pilots are accounted for, with no such losses being reported.
Claim: Civilian Infrastructure Targeted
Pakistan accused India of targeting civilian infrastructure. India emphasised that all operations were precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure, avoiding civilian areas.

India's Commitment to Peace Amidst Provocations

As tensions ease following the ceasefire, India remains vigilant, prepared to defend its sovereignty while advocating for peace and cooperation in the region.
