Petrol station (For Representational Purpose)
The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Friday urged people not to resort to any kind of panic buying in view of the escalation in tension between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, post the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
In response to circulating concerns and speculations regarding fuel availability, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the country’s largest fuel supplier, has issued an official statement reassuring the public that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG anywhere in India. The corporation has emphasized that its supply lines are operating smoothly and fuel stocks are adequate to meet the current demand across the nation.
In a public advisory released by Indian Oil Corporation Limited in its official X handle, the company wrote, “#IndianOil has ample fuel stocks across the country and our supply lines are operating smoothly. There is no need for panic buying—fuel and LPG is readily available at all our outlets.”
The company further appealed to consumers to stay calm and avoid unnecessary rush at fuel stations. It highlighted that panic buying can create artificial shortages, strain supply systems, and inconvenience the public.
“Help us serve you better by staying calm and avoiding unnecessary rush. This will keep our supply lines running seamlessly and ensure uninterrupted fuel access for all,” the advisory added.
The statement comes amid scattered reports of increased footfall at select petrol pumps in a few cities, triggered by rumours of a possible fuel crisis. However, Indian Oil officials have categorically denied these reports and affirmed that all fuel depots, LPG bottling plants, and retail outlets are fully operational.

Industry experts have also supported Indian Oil’s clarification, stating that the current fuel inventory is sufficient and that both domestic and industrial fuel needs are being met without disruption. They have advised consumers not to fall prey to misinformation, especially spread through unverified social media channels.
