As we bid adieu to another eventful twelve months of 2021 to welcome the New Year with newer hopes and aspirations, netizens from politicians to celebrities and the common man joined the revelry bandwagon by extending their heartfelt wishes on social media platforms.

President Ram Nath Kovind wished people of the country on the occasion of New Year.

"Happy New Year to everyone! Let us welcome the new year with a resolve to usher in all round progress in our society and country. May the New Year-2022 bring happiness, health, success, prosperity and peace in our lives," he tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished an abundance of joy and good health in everyone's lives.

"Happy 2022! May this year bring abundance of joy and good health in everyone’s lives. May we keep scaling new heights of progress and prosperity, and work even harder to fulfill the dreams of our great freedom fighters," the Prime Minister wrote in his Twitter page.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his good wishes to the people of Odisha in a video message on Twitter.

"My good wishes to you and your family members on the occasion of New Year. With blessings from Lord Jagannath, let 2022 a prosperous year for the State," said Patnaik in his message.

He also urged the people of Odisha to be careful and cautious and adhere to the Covid-19 appropriate behaviors properly in wake of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda also wished people a very happy and successful New Year.

"Wishing everyone a very happy & successful New Year2022!, May this New Year bring good health, happiness & success for all. May New India scale new heights," tweeted Panda.

Due to a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases, New Year celebrations have been low-key this year as well. Many stars have jetted off to many tourist locations to celebrate New Year with their friends and family.

Mahesh Babu and his family members are currently in Dubai. He shared a family photo and wished his fans on New Year. "Trust the magic of new beginnings! Be happy, be kind, be grateful! Happy New Year 2022! Stay safe everyone. Love you all," he wrote on his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Samantha shared a photo of her pet dog, Hash, and shared a message for her fans and followers. 

"If your biggest achievement this year was simply making it this far, simply waking up in the morning when you didn’t want to face the day, simply surviving - that is something to celebrate, too. Keep finding the things that make you believe in your healing. Be gentle with yourself and never forget that even the smallest step forward is still a step towards who you are becoming. We are in this together. 2022. Stronger. Wiser. Kinder," she tweeted.

Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli shared pictures with his wife Anushka Sharma and teammates and wished his numerous fans across the globe.

"We hope everyone is blessed with joy and happiness this new year. We send you our love and positivity," tweeted Kohli.

Star shuttler PV Sindhu expressed her ambition to achieve great feats in 2022.

"I know we just met, but I have a feeling  you and I are going to do great things!" tweeted Sindhu.

Popular sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a beautiful sand art of Lord Jagannath at Puri beach to wish Happy New Year to his fans.

"May Mahaprabhu Jagannath bless all!" Pattnaik wrote on his twitter handle.
