The sky is the limit for the love of a mother and she can go to any extent to ensure the well being of her child. Time and again, instances of a woman’s selfless love, sacrifice and strength have immortalised her identity since time immemorial.
A woman from Kishanipada village in Bonda showed such an exemplary act of valour when she fought off a bear to protect her daughter from the jaws of death.
As per sources, a black bear which had strayed out of the deep jungle attacked a girl while she was working on a farmland. The girl’s mother who was present nearby on the field wasted little time in jumping to the rescue of her daughter. She put up a brave fight against the wild animal with bare hands and managed to save her daughter from its claws.
However, she sustained severe wounds during her face-off the bear. The girl has also reportedly suffered minor injuries due to the attack by the animal. Both were admitted to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital for treatment.
The condition of the woman and her daughter is stable and they are out of danger, said Malkangiri ADMO Siba Prasad Maharana.
Recently, a woman lost her life while trying to protect the life of her toddler son from a venomous snake in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
