Gone are the days when passengers made a long list of food items before embarking on a journey by train. The Indian Railways has made massive changes to enhance the travel experience with high regards to safety of the passengers.

Now the passengers no longer need to carry extra food as they can easily relish their favourite food through the e-catering services introduced on Indian Railways.

E-catering services are managed by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Key Highlights:

Passengers can pre-order meals of their choice at the time of booking of e-ticket or while travelling on train using App/Call Centre/website/by calling 1323.

Catering service is currently available at 310 railway stations.

Services being provided through 1755 service providers and 14 food aggregators.

Average number of 41,844 meals being serviced per day.

Promoting Digital India initiative:

Digital method of transactions for purchase of food items through catering units at Railway Stations is being encouraged.

8878 static units have the facility of digital payment. Handheld PoS machines being provided at catering units to generate printed bills and invoices reflecting all details of transactions.

3081 POS machines are available on 596 trains.

4316 static units have been provided with POS machines.
