The Darbha division of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) took responsibility for the deadly attack on the security forces at Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday that resulted in the death of 10 DRG personnel and the driver of the vehicle.

Releasing a press statement, the Maoists said, “Yesterday, on April 26, 2023, our brave PLGA carried out a massive attack near Aranpur. In this, 11 DRG goons died. According to preliminary reports, several police personnel were possibly injured too.”

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Maoist party will be wiped out ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. They are waging a war on the people. The natural resources of Bastar have been handed over to domestic and foreign corporate houses. Millions of different types of Paramilitary forces/Commandos, Cobra jawans have been deployed making Bastar a military cantonment,” the statement read.

“These forces are involved in atrocities, murders, and arrests of the public every day. They are doing heinous acts like looting property and targeting innocent people. They are carrying out air strikes day and night with different types of drones and helicopters on their own people. In such a situation, the public has no choice but to resist this heinous attack,” alleged the Maoists.

“The current action of resistance was also carried out by our PLGA while the DRGs were returning after attacking the villages in the name of search operation,” claimed the Maoist Statement.

The IED attack was carried out on a vehicle carrying DRG (District Reserve Guard) personnel near Aranpur in Dantewada district. As many as 10 personnel of DRG and a driver were reportedly killed in the IED blast.
