  • In order to ensure “Ease of Living” of the pensioners, a meeting was held with the Centralised Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) of Pension Distributing Banks on June 15.

Several initiatives are being initiated for the welfare of Central government employees and pensioners in view of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

As salaries as well as the pensions of Central government employees are disbursed on the basis of the Seventh Pay Commission, it has now become paramount to ensure all the issues are redressed in a transparent manner.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions recently asked the banks engaged in disbursing pensions to issue pension slips on the registered mobile numbers via SMS and email (wherever is applicable).

The Ministry has categorically asked to issue pension slip by the pension disbursing banks on monthly basis.

In order to ensure “Ease of Living” of the pensioners, a meeting was held with the Centralised Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) of Pension Distributing Banks on June 15.

The issue of providing the break-up of monthly pension to pensioners was discussed.

“The banks were impressed upon to take this welfare measure, as this information is required by pensioners in connection with Income Tax, Dearness Relief payment, DR arrears etc. The banks welcomed the idea and expressed their willingness to provide the information,” the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions communique dated June 22 read.

The circular also mentions that the Pension Disbursing Banks have been directed to issue pension slip to pensioners after credit of pension on their registered mobile numbers through SMS and email (wherever available) also.

Banks may also use social media apps Whatsapp in addition to SMS and email. The pension slip should provide complete details of monthly pension paid along with break-up of the amount credited and tax deductions etc. The CPPCs of Pension Disbursing Banks are requested to ensure compliance of the above instructions for improving the "Ease of Living" for pensioners, the communiqué added.
