During her Budget presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharmaan said that the government has plans to set up 2000 day cancer care centres in all district hospitals.
FM Sitharmaan announced that the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana to enhance agricultural productivity. The ambitious PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, through convergence of existing schemes, will cover 100 districts. The scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity and crop diversification.
The Finance Minister also announced a 5-year mission to promote cotton production. "The investment and turnover limits for classification of all MSMEs will be enhanced to 2.5 and 2 times respectively. This will give them the confidence to grow and generate employment for our youth," said the FM.
"MSMEs, agriculture and exports are some of our growth engines and we will continue to strengthen these sectors," she said.
"This Budget continues the government's efforts to accelerate growth, secure inclusive development. It aims to invigorate private sector investments, uplift household sentiments and bolster the power of India's rising middle class," FM Sitharaman said in her initial comments.
The Budget Session of Parliament, which commenced on Friday, will be conducted in two phases - the first started on January 31 and will conclude on February 13, while the second phase will begin on March 10 and end on April 4.
