National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Baijayant Jay Panda has been threatened with Odisha Cabinet Minister Naba Das-like fate. Das was assassinated in broad daylight in January this year.
A threat call was reportedly received by an assistant of the BJP National VP in which 'the caller threatened that -the same thing will be done to Jay Panda which was done to Naba Das'.
"Whether this constitutes a real threat or was a juvenile prank is not possible for us to determine. Since such a message should not be taken lightly, a complaint with all details of the threat call has been lodged with the Delhi Police yesterday who are investigating into the matter," informed the Office of Jay Panda.
In this regard, a complaint has been lodged at Barakhamba Road police station. Taking the case seriously, the police have launched a probe to trace the caller.
However, the caller, who was speaking in Hindi, didn’t mention the reason why the BJP’s National Vice President has been targeted. Since the caller mentioned the assassination of Minister Naba Das, it is assumed that the caller is well aware of Odisha politics.
Panda, a former Member of Parliament and one of the most prominent leaders from Odisha, was suspended from the Biju Janata Dal or BJD in January 2018 and subsequently, he resigned from the party on May 28, 2018.
He had alleged that there was a conspiracy against him and expressed disappointment that Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik did not see through the conspiracy against him.
He joined the BJP on March 4, 2019 in New Delhi.
