The Noida police on Saturday arrested four persons for secretly installing hidden cameras in rooms of OYO hotels and recording the intimate moments of couples.

The accused then called the couple and demanded money by threatening to leak to the video.

However, police denied the involment of the hotel staff. Preliminary probe the racket was run by a few youths of the area, the OYO room staff were not involved in the racket, police said.

According to police, the members the group first booked rooms in the OYO hotels. Cunningly, they placed hidden cameras in the rooms before checking out. Later, the cameras installed in the OYO rooms recorded the intimate moments.

After a few days, the accused members would again check in and take back the hidden cameras. They then contacted the targeted couple, police said.

The four people have been identified as Vishnu Singh, Abdul Wahav, Pankaj Kumar and Anurag Kumar Singh. These groups were involved in a number of illegal activities, including unauthorized call centers and providing fake sim cards for illegal activities.

“The accused sent the intimate videos to the couple's phone and demand money from them, threatening to post the videos online if their demands were not met. The third accused, Pankaj, used to provide the registered SIM and account registered in the name of other persons for the extortion money," police said.

The police have seized 11 laptops, 21 mobiles and 22 ATM cards, PAN and Aadhaar card during the raid. The gang is reported to have operations across the country.

One of the gang members is on the run and efforts are being made to arrest him.
