Amarnath Yatra
The revered Amarnath Yatra, one of India's most significant annual pilgrimages, is set to take place in 2025 with several major updates. For the first time in its history, the yatra will be conducted over just 38 days, from July 3 to August 9. This decision marks a shift in both logistics and strategy, backed by an unprecedented security cover and improved connectivity.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has announced the shortened yatra duration, citing better crowd management, improved safety, and logistical efficiency. This move is expected to ease the pressure on infrastructure while maintaining the spiritual sanctity of the journey.
To ensure a safe pilgrimage, over 581 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be deployed along the route. Security measures have been significantly intensified with the introduction of jammers to protect the convoy, temporary road closures during yatra movements, and multi-layered deployment teams.
Road Opening Parties (ROPs) to clear and secure paths
Quick Action Teams (QATs) for rapid threat response
Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS)
K9 sniffer units and
Drone surveillance for real-time monitoring
Pilgrims must be between 13 and 70 years old, as per updated guidelines. Even with a valid medical certificate, those outside this age range will not be allowed. Pregnant women are also barred from undertaking the journey due to health risks.
Adding to the convenience for devotees and tourists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-anticipated Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express today. The train will feature Chair Car (₹715) and Executive Class (₹1320) options, enhancing comfort and reducing travel time between key locations in Jammu & Kashmir.
Two train sets will operate four daily trips, creating a smoother travel experience ahead of the pilgrimage season.
With its spiritual roots intact and infrastructure stronger than ever, Amarnath Yatra 2025 is set to be a safer, more streamlined experience for lakhs of devotees. As faith converges with technology and security, this year’s yatra will symbolise not only devotion but also progress, bringing pilgrims closer to the divine with peace of mind.
