In a bid to transform into a manufacturing powerhouse, Haryana has set plans in motion for a new 3,000-acre Industrial Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) near the recently inaugurated Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar.

Valued at Rs 4,680 crore, the project, which is a joint venture between the Haryana government and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), aims to generate over 10,000 jobs and attract Rs 32,000 crore in investments in a push to leverage infrastructure for economic expansion.

Project Blueprint: Phases and Partnerships

The IMC, the largest node under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, will be developed in two phases.

Spanning 2,988 acres adjacent to the airport, it will house advanced infrastructure, including roads, water treatment plants, and solid waste management systems. An MoU between NICDC and the state will be finalised soon, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini urging officials to fast-track approvals, as per reports from online media.

Jobs and Investments: The Economic Ripple

In a hopeful move, the industrial cluster is projected to create direct employment for more than 10,000 workers, with sectors like automotive, electronics, and textiles expected to dominate.

Officials also expect spillover benefits for ancillary industries and local MSMEs, further boosting job numbers. As such, the Rs 32,000 crore investment target aligns with Haryana’s goal to position itself as a hub for domestic and global manufacturers.

Bigger Picture: Haryana’s Industrial Ambitions

The Hisar IMC is part of a broader strategy. Under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, an 886-acre Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub is underway in Nangal Chaudhary.

Combined, these projects aim to establish 10 Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) statewide under the national ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission.

Why Hisar?

The airport’s strategic location ensures seamless cargo movement and connectivity to northern and western markets. With 4,212 acres already occupied by the aviation hub, the IMC will optimise the remaining land, minimising logistical costs for industries.

Reports have also stated that Phase-1 development will focus on core infrastructure, while Phase-2 will expand specialised zones for infrastructure-driven employment generation. For job seekers and investors alike, this project signals a transformative leap toward a self-reliant economy.
