Youth who attempted self-immolation outside Ganjam SP office dies

The youth, who had attempted self-immolation in front of the Ganjam SP office by pouring petrol on himself on Saturday, reportedly succumbed to the burn injuries late last night. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased, who was identified as Badal Sahoo of Borigaon in Chhatrapur, allegedly resorted to self-immolation due to police indifference. However, the actual reason behind the self-immolation bid is still unclear.

Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray on Saturday said that Sahoo attempted self-immolation outside his office and an investigation into the incident has been ordered. He further informed that a complaint of misbehaviour was earlier lodged against Sahoo at Rambha police station.
